Colorada!

Two weeks ago we went to Colorado for Parker's baptism!  I have to admit, this being our first time taking Daniel on a longer-than-three-hour road trip, I was more than a little worried about how he'd do in the car for eight hours. So I prepped and planned and jimmy rigged our backseat (we're talking a scenic calendar, all sorts of colorful things hanging from the ceiling, new toys, window shades, etc). I made sure to pack all his books and put him in his most comfy pants for the drive. And you know what, the kid didn't do half bad! Granted he needed constant entertainment and lots of music (we had the privileged of listening to Peace Train about two hundred times...thank goodness we're Cat Stevens fans around here!). We also made him a "rockaby baby" cd which featured U2, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay all modified into baby lullabies. It was good middle ground :) I think total Daniel only cried 1 hour of the 8, there and back.
We had so much fun in Colorado with family, even though it was a there-and-back sort of trip. We made the most of it and were able to go to a high school football game, get a huge break on a speeding ticket, let Daniel spend some much-needed time with his Larsen Grandparents, see Parker get baptized (which was wonderful :) have an amazing lunch Reed and April hosted (thank you!), and spend the evening playing games (thank you Carter for that intense game of Battleship! I'll forgive you for spying on my pieces ;). Oh and I got to paint Mom's toenails! All in all we had a wonderful time. And were of course reminded once again of just how much we'd love to move to Colorada!
